Boxing Shadows: Choosing health during travel has always been difficult for me. The uncertainty of my plans set me off course for a little bit, but I am back on track. As I say, my muscles that take in and out of failure get frequent workouts! Lol.

Choosing Health When Traveling

Making healthy choices when I travel has always been difficult. I have failed so many times that I still expect to fail. So, this trip is about defying my own expectations.

This week, I travel for work. I have distinct struggles before, during, and after a trip. I was doing okay until I heard I was going to be traveling into Hurricane Hilary.

I am not sure what about Hurricane Hilary prompted me to run for the cashews and bananas, but she did! And, so I failed. But, I failed according to plan.

I can recover from cashews and bananas. These are muscles I exercise regularly — the ones that take me from success to failure and failure to success.

The day after a failure is usually not the best, but it doesn’t have to be. I just need to work myself out of it, and that is what I did.

Today, I am packing. I am bringing frozen and boxed beans, soups, dehydrated vegetables, and a few nuts and seeds.

The rest I will get at a grocery store once I get there. Should the rain be too heavy to shop, I will have something to eat, or I will plan to water fast until I can get to the store.

Stay tuned for how things go during the trip. My goal is not perfection but staying focused enough to succeed in the long run, to transform shadows.

Travel Update and Eating Ultra-Clean to Set Myself Up for Success

My trip is postponed by two days. As I look to the change in plans and get ready to travel, I am working on having two ultra-clean days with a large number of plants to set myself up for success.

I will eat several kinds of fresh leafy greens and my soup that includes about 30 types of plants.

I build meals out of the foods to add a range nutritional diversity:

• leafy greens

• beans

• whole grains

• vegetables

• fruits

• nuts and seeds (a few)

I will eat as many unprocessed vegetables as possible for these two days. That is especially helpful to set the stage for travel success. I will be more likely to succeed and stay on track if I go into the time away from home with momentum.

Eating ultra-clean can be challenging because getting ready to travel involves a lot of details, but I have learned that this focus is important beforehand to make things easier during the trip.
